HAWORTH--Herbert LeRoy Haworth, 80, who lived on Seventh Street in Sans Pareil, died early Thursday in a Jacksonville convalescent home following a lingering illness. He was a native of Mayport and had lived in Duval County all his life. He was a carpenter and a member of the Atlantic Beach Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lyvalia Haworth; three sons, Hubert and Cloyd, both of Hickory, N.C., and Michael Haworth of Jacksonville; a stepson, James Marshall, Hickory; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Houck of Lenoir, N.C., and Linda Joann Haworth of Jacksonville; a sister, Mrs. Lenore [sic] Arnau of Jacksonville; and a brother, Fred Haworth of Mayport; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Giddens-Griffith Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach, with Rev. C. W. Hundley, pastor of the Windy Hill Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Warren Smith Cemetery, Jacksonville Beach. Pallbearers will be Edward, Avery, Larry and William Haworth, Millard Cooper and Olen D. Brooks.

HAWORTH--Funeral services for Fred D. Haworth will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville Beach with Pastor John Buchheimer officiating. Interment will follow in Beaches Memorial Gardens. Mr. Haworth was a noted Story Teller and Historian whose tales included those of his Grandfather, Dr. Eli Haworth who practiced medicine in Duval Co. during the Reconstruction and also served as Keeper of the St. Johns Lighthouse with his son, Alphonso as Assistant. The Dr., an early real estate tycoon, was owner of a large portion of DeWee's [s/b DeWees] Grant and maintained a hotel at Burnside Beach which stood south of the St. Johns River Bar. Fred, son of Alphonso and Ellen Haworth, was born July 18, 1888 during the Yellow Fever epidemic. He worked at the old Continental Hotel before becoming Boatman, Fisherman, and finally Master Carpenter after serving in the Military during WW-I. He and his wife, former Hulda Huffman, were among those who organized a Lutheran congregation at the Beaches and Mr. Haworth constructed the Alter [sic] and other special features in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Jacksonville Beach. Mr. Hayworth [sic] is survived by his wife, Hulda Haworth; a daughter, Barbara Cooper; a son, Fred E. Haworth; 1 sister, Nora Arneu [sic]; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 P.M. Friday evening at the Funeral Home. Arrangements by Giddens-Griffith Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach.

Mr. Haworth was a lifelong resident of Mayport. He was a restaurant operator. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Mayport Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Mayport Presbyterian Church and Seaside Number 8 Pythian Sisters. Survivors include two sons, William A. Haworth of Mayport, and Glenn A. Haworth of Tampa; two daughters, Mrs. Ann Davis of Des Moines, Iowa, and Mrs. Shirley Richmond of Warrington; two brothers, Quinton Morford of Daytona Beach and Glen Morford of Jacksonville; a sister, Mrs. Cora Mann of Temple [sic], Ariz.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral 10 a.m. Monday in Giddens-Griffith Chapel, Jacksonville Beach, the Rev. McNab Morrison officiating.
