Chas. B. Davis, Printer

Chares Davis' great-great niece, Dee Ann Pierce,  writes:   "I am the great-great-niece of Charles Davis, and his mother Susannah Alice Haworth Davis was my great-great-grand-mother.  Charlie was not only a self taught scholar but an accomplished craftsman.  Alfred Haworth, Susannah's father purchased some cedar trees for a Mr. Spurgeon, this tree grew on the Haworth property for about 99 yrs at which time it was harvested.  Charles had the lumber cut from the tree and fashioned a Hope Chest from this tree for my Grand-mother Esther Ella Davis Flinchum.  Grandma passed away at the age of  97 leaving me the beloved chest. It show the wear of many years but is still in remarkably good shape and is much loved. Not so much that its a pretty piece of furniture, but because of the family history that brought the piece into being. "

She goes on to ask if we know the burial place of John Bunyon Davis:     " John Bunyon Davis was moving the family back north and had sold the property.  He was on his way to buy them a new homestead when he was murdered and robbed and ended up in a paupers grave.  Charlie found where the grave was but I have not found any reference to the location."   We do not know the answer and hope that someone can give us this information.
