Now we can all update our Haworth records to state:
“George Haworth sailed to America on the ship Britannia; commanded by
Richard Nicholls and departing Liverpool, England, on or about 18 May 1699.
After a short stop in Cork, Ireland, on 20 May to take on provisions, the
Britannia
continued to America, arriving at Philadelphia on 24 August 1699.
Of course, for complete accuracy we should note that George Haworth
disembarked at Whorekill (now Lewes, Delaware) to visit his sister, while the
Britannia continued on to Philadelphia. An additional nine passengers were
left ashore at
Elsinborough (now Elsinboro), New Jersey, a day or two later.
