Hannah Elnora Haworth (see web page Family Notes), daughter of Jeremiah Haworth, notes that both the town and Academy/Meeting were laid out on their farm property.   She writes that Jeremiah helped fund the building of the Academy.  She also notes that the town was named for an Englishman who had given them a library of religious and historical book.
