James M. Haworth's Will

Editor's Notes:  James M. Haworth, son of James Haworth and Sarah Wood, was born 2 January 1752, Frederick County, VA.  He died on 5 February 1827, Hendricks County, IN, and is buried near Danville, Hendricks County, IN.  His will was dated 20 May 1826.  He married on 18 February 1784, at Greene County (Now TN), Mary Rees.  They eloped.  Mary was born on 12 April 1767, Frederick County, VA.  She died on 28 December 1850 at Hamilton County, IN, and is buried at Hinkles Creek FBG, Hamilton County.  James was a farmer and a miller on Lee's Creek, Highland County, OH.  A family folk tale says that in 1773, he went to Kentucky with his brother George and Daniel Boone.  They  immediately returned home after being attached by the Indians near Cumberland Gap.  If they did accompany Daniel Boone, it was when he went to Florida.  James wanted to settle there, but his wife refused to, so they went to Kentucky.  During the Revolutionary War, James moved to the Holston River in NC (now TN), to avoid conscription.  They moved to Leesburg, Highland County, OH in 1802, and then to Indiana in about 1824.  Source: Page 40, Volume I, "Some Quaker Families - Scarborough/Haworth."
