WHEN DID DANIEL BOONE’S FAILED EXPEDITION TO KENTUCKY TAKE PLACE

AND WHICH HAWORTHS WERE WITH HIM?

·       The failed expedition to Kentucky was in 1773. ("History of Kentucky" written by Humphrey Marshall and published 1824 in Frankfort, Kentucky, is one of many references.)

·       I was unable to locate any official records that provide the names of the five families or the 40 men that accompanied Boone on the 1773 expedition. However, James, son of George, died in 1757 so he was not on the expedition. (Reference "Hopewell Friends History", 1734-1934, Frederick Co., VA).

·       James Haworth and his brother George, sons of the elder James Haworth, were single and living near Boone in 1773. Several authoritative family accounts place them with Boone on the failed expedition.

·       The "History of Clinton County, Ohio" published in 1882 states that George and James Haworth, sons of the elder James Haworth, accompanied Boone on the 1773 expedition.

·       A paper read at the 1899 Haworth reunion about Mahlon Haworth (son of George & grandson James) states the same.

·       Charles B. Davis recorded the same in the "Haworth Record".
